Cheshire Reds Annual Tryouts
We're excited to invite prospective families to join our team for the upcoming seasons. Our tryouts are a chance for your child to showcase their skills, meet our coaches, and become part of the Reds family.
Tryout Details:
Location: McNamara Field, home of the Cheshire Reds
Eligibility: Open to Cheshire residents or full-time students of any Cheshire school
Tryout Process: Players will participate in drills, situations, and evaluations led by our experienced coaching staff
Season Starts: January
Tryout Dates by Age Group:
Tryouts for the Spring, 2026 season will be posted in the Fall.

What to Bring:
Baseball attire: Hat, jersey, pants, cleats
Baseball equipment: Glove, bat, helmet, protective gear
Water bottle
Positive attitude and determination
General Guidelines to Prepare Your Child:
Hustle: Always give 100% effort during drills and activities. Move quickly on and off the field, including during water breaks.
Be Coachable: Listen carefully to instructions and feedback from coaches. Show a willingness to learn and improve.
Stay Positive: Maintain a positive attitude, even when facing challenges. Encourage teammates and stay focused on the task at hand.
Team Spirit: Show good sportsmanship and support your fellow players.
Be Prepared: Arrive on time, properly equipped, and ready to play.

Q: What age groups are eligible for tryouts?
A: Tryouts are open to players within our community and specified age range. Please refer to each team's announcement for details.
Q: When are announcements for tryouts made?
A: Tryouts are announced to the broader CYB&S community and will be relayed through postings on this website. Tryouts usually start after Labor Day, with 3 or 4 tryouts scheduled in total for each team, though some teams may hold fewer.
Q: How will players be evaluated during tryouts?
A: Players will participate in various drills and activities to assess their skills, teamwork, and attitude.
Q: Is there a fee to participate in tryouts?
A: There is no fee to register your child to try out for the team. However, once roster decisions are made, parents of players selected to a Reds roster will be required to sign a player contract and pay a non-refundable $200 fee, which will be credited to the full player fees when those are fully known and published.
